Oscar Fredrik Church
Gothenburg, Sweden. August 12, 2025.
On a Scandinavian summer’s day, we wandered into the church— mesmerized by the organ’s resonance, and the lushness of its interiors. A few visitors came and went with some shuffling of feet, and murmurs of architectural details. Neo-gothic, with Nordic distinction. Drawn by Helgo Zettervall, a Swedish architect and professor of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, the church was built in the last decade of the 19th century— inaugurated on Easter Sunday, 1893.
Soon after we arrived, the music stopped. We remained seated for a few more minutes between the rows of green— embracing the quiet and warmth of the morning light.
